Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear
"God Never Changes; Far and Straining from Worldly Distractions"
Between 640 and 608 BC, the prophet Zephaniah spoke into a restless, distracted people. He warned Israel of judgment, but he also reminded them of something far more enduring: God had not abandoned them. God was still present. Still faithful. Still near.
That truth matters to me especially in seasons when life feels loud.
There are days I talk to God about everything, even when I don’t feel like it. And there are days I wonder why He feels distant. I’ve asked those questions out loud: Where are You, God? Are You still here? Do You care? Have You forgotten us?
I feel it when I lose a head coach who was also a friend. A spiritual mentor. Someone who was simply "good people". I feel it in the chaos of the sports world;NIL, revenue sharing, politics That’s polarizing bleeding into everything with no common-ground solutions.
I feel it in the weariness of surgeries stacked on surgeries, recovery after recovery. Life piles up. Distractions multiply. And before I know it, my heart feels far and strained.
But here’s the truth that steadies me:
God is near, even when I don’t feel it.
That’s why I keep stepping into the transfer portal for Jesus every day choosing Him again over worldly distractions.
I cling to Joshua 1:9. I stay close to Scripture. I surround myself with biblical men. I worship, even when I’m tired. Not because it makes life easy but because it reminds me who my why is. And not ashamed to say I'm a sinner saved by grace and forgiveness!
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
We weren’t standing in Jerusalem in 640 BC. But we are still God’s people. God came into our midst through Jesus. He placed His Spirit within us. He loves us deeply. And when we pray, His peace still guards our hearts and minds.
God has not changed across generations. He still rescues. He still rejoices over His children. He still quiets us with His love.
So today, pause. Thank God for His faithfulness. Speak Zephaniah 3:17 out loud over yourself and your family. And remember:
even when you feel far, He is near.
God bless you and this ministry!
