Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear
“Guided by Principles… or Driven by Circumstances?”
I speak this today as a man who knows who I am, whose I am, and whats my "why"
I belong to Jesus Christ bought by His blood, shaped by His mercy, and sent to strengthen others the way He has strengthened me.
Before Jesus ever mentioned storms, winds, or floods, He talked about practice the daily discipline of taking His words and living them.
That truth still wakes me up in the morning. Anybody can hear Scripture. Anybody can admire truth. But principles Christ-shaped, Spirit-forged principles those are what hold you steady when life leans hard on your soul.
Jesus said:
“The one who hears My words and does them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24
I’ve learned this the Sugar Bear way:
When Christ is your rock, circumstances lose their authority.
They may shake you, but they will not move you.
Years ago, a young man I was mentoring called me late at night. His confidence was fading, performance slipping, mind scattered. He thought he had a technique problem. But the Spirit showed me what was really happening he wasn’t standing on principles. He was letting circumstances dictate his identity.
Jesus offered him —and still offers us a better path:
“If you remain in Me and My words remain in you…”
John 15:7
Remaining is a principle.
Drifting is a circumstance.
So we recalibrated his anchors:
• God allows nothing today that He will not use for my growth. (Romans 8:28)
• Do your best with what you have where you are.
• Lead with presence, not emotion.
• Let the Spirit shape your steps, not your fears.
• Stay rooted in Christ before you make requests.
• Focus on what’s possible, not what’s missing.
• Speak truth to yourself before the enemy speaks lies.
• Remember:
seasons change — hardship doesn’t last forever.
Circumstances may reveal you.
But principles God-birthed, Spirit-led, Christ-rooted principles establish you.
And before we hung up, the Spirit gave me one line for him, and for you:
“Give it to God… and go to sleep.”
So today, take a quiet moment with the Lord and ask:
“Father, what core principles do You want governing my life from this day forward?”
Write them.
Pray them.
Live them.
Let God form you from the inside out so nothing on the outside can break you.
God bless you, and this ministry!
