une 19 – Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear
Fear No More – Jesus Loves You
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” —1 John 4:18 (ESV)
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” —Galatians 5:1 (ESV)
I remember walking through a Juneteenth celebration for the first time in Denver Colorado, the joy rising like a hymn sung under open skies. Laughter, stories, gospel choirs, and kids running free—it all reminded me of something deeper than history. It reminded me of Jesus—the One who sets captives free. Not just once, but daily.
We commemorate Juneteenth to remember the day freedom finally reached Galveston, Texas. Yet many still live shackled in fear—fear of rejection, fear of being forgotten, fear of never being truly free. But there’s a love that casts out fear. A love that walks us out of the grave.
“I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.” —Frederick Douglass
Like Douglass, we remember that faith isn’t passive. God’s love moves us—into courage, into purpose, into peace.
In Braver Angels, we seek to walk in the same spirit—not as political warriors, but as peacemakers. Not as judges, but as neighbors.
We don’t gather to win debates—we gather to win trust.
And trust grows when we listen across difference, when we refuse to fear the person who votes differently, and when we courageously love as Jesus commanded.
That’s revival. That’s reconciliation.
That’s how Juneteenth lives beyond the history books—when it shapes how we speak, how we serve, and how we see one another.
Fellow children of God—on Juneteenth and every day—we proclaim this truth:
You are not forgotten.
You are not alone.
And in Christ, you are no longer a slave to fear.
Let the world see your freedom, not just in marches and memories, but in mercy and message.
Prayer :
Lord, let Your love silence our fears. Let it echo louder than the shouts of injustice or the whispers of shame. Help us walk free—spiritually, emotionally, eternally. And on this Juneteenth, may we remember that Your Gospel breaks every chain.
God bless you and this ministry!
Fear is a chain. Love is the key.
But Jesus?
He’s the Blacksmith who doesn’t just unlock the door—He walks you through it, hand in hand.
