Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear
"We Bleed the Same: A Divine Reminder in Divided Times"
Genesis 1:27 | Galatians 3:28 | Romans 3:23
In the stillness of the morning—with coffee warming my hand and grace resting heavy on my heart—I opened to the very first truth:
“So God created mankind in His own image…” (Genesis 1:27)
Not some. Not just the saints or the scholars. All of us—each with the divine imprint, a signature of sacred worth stamped on the soul.
And yet, look at us: Red vs. Blue. Urban vs. Rural. Masked vs. Unmasked. We draw lines where God sees none. Too often, debate turns into doubt—doubt of one another’s humanity.
But Scripture calls us to something deeper:
“There is neither Jew nor Gentile…for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
That’s not unity through sameness. It’s unity beyond labels.
And still, we stumble. We judge. We justify. So I go back to Romans 3:23:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
That means none of us stands higher. We all kneel at the same cross. The same need. The same mercy.
I’ve been listening to my heart lately…
…and to voices like Braver Angels, who invite us to sit down, not to lecture but to listen.
Their mission echoed what my soul already knew: behind every opinion is a story, behind every label is a person, and behind every argument is a yearning to be seen and heard.
Inspired by Jonathan Haidt’s six moral foundations, I’ve learned that we aren’t broken—we’re just wired differently. Some of us cry out for fairness. Others yearn for liberty, for loyalty, for sanctity. None of it is wrong. All of it is human. All of it is holy.
The real problem isn’t disagreement. It’s contempt.
So here’s what I remember:
When we bleed, we bleed the same. And if we bleed the same, we can heal the same—if we’re willing to humble ourselves, hold each other, and ask more questions than we offer answers.
🙏
Lord, help us see one another through Your eyes—image-bearers, all fallen, all redeemable. Teach us to be bridge-builders, not barricade-keepers.
May your heart stay open, your mind stay curious, and your hands reach across divides. In Jesus’ name—Amen.
God bless you and this ministry.
