Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear" The Bible in My Backpack"

When children aren’t rooted in God’s Word, they can be swept away by empty ideas, false promises, and a culture that tells them truth is whatever they feel.
Colossians 2:8 warns: “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy...”
Psalm 78:8 warns against becoming “a stubborn and rebellious generation... not faithful to God.”
And in Judges 2:10, we learn what happens when truth isn’t passed down: “After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.”
This poem is a joyful reminder that when children are raised in the Word—praying, serving, worshiping, and learning truth—they grow up strong in Christ. Every day is a chance to build that foundation.
🚒 The Bible in My Backpack
A Poem for Children by Sugar Bear
I opened my Bible when I was small,
The pages would whisper God’s love to us all.
Each verse like a treasure, each word a light,
That helped me to walk in the truth and what’s right.
I prayed every morning and whispered at night,
“Dear Jesus, please help me to follow Your light.”
I served in the church and sang in the choir,
Each act built a flame that grew into fire.
My music was filled with hope and delight,
Songs about grace that gave wings to my flight.
On mission trips near and missions afar,
We served in His name under moonlight and star.
My best friend believed—she showed me the way,
Together we knelt and learned how to pray.
Grown-ups at church would smile and then say,
“I’m here if you need me—don’t drift away.”
My parents would stop when their words got too loud,
They’d say, “I was wrong,” which made me so proud.
They taught me the Bible through moments each day—
Like driving or chores or watching me play.
With brothers and sisters, we learned to be kind,
We helped one another keep Jesus in mind.
At church we would gather, week after week,
God’s truth was our food—His face we did seek.
Now I interpret, apply, and defend,
The Bible’s my guide, my Savior, my friend.
With quiet-time habits and truth in my heart,
I carry God's Word—my compass and chart.
So, read it each day—don’t wait ‘til you’re grown,
God wrote it for you—it’s yours to own.
He’ll walk right beside you and help you to see:
The Bible’s a love letter—written for me.
Dear child of God, the Bible is not just a book—it's a voice, a light, a compass, and a friend. Carry it with you. Read it often. Let it shape your heart and direct your steps. The more you trust God's Word, the more you'll know His heart.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you.”
—Isaiah 41:10
