If the praise with which we mention people is
God-centered, it doesn’t detract from the praise owed to God, but deepens it.
In fact, the sincere desire to see God have the praise he deserves will serve
to increase the desire to praise people when they reflect his character.
God be merciful to us and bless us, And cause
His face to shine upon us, That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation
among all nations. Psalm 67:1-2
God's
blessings follow us Christian leaders who adopt His vision for the nations for
the world. Psalm 67 contains both the "top line" and the "bottom
line" of the covenant God invites us to enter. The top line represents
God's blessings for His people; the bottom line represents the natural response
to that blessing. When God blesses us, we are to turn around and bless all the
unblessed nations of the earth. The "top line" is that God would
bless us, and the "bottom line" is that we would make His name known
to all of the earth.
Like
Abraham, we are blessed only that we might be a blessing to all the peoples of
the earth instinctively want to help others to praise it too. Praising it to
others “completes the enjoyment.” So true enjoyment of God must see, God never
draws us in except to send us out to serve and reach others. We want a sophisticated,
church of worshippers. We must not take credit for our own blessings but point
beyond ourselves to God.
So “why”, do we need to
praise the Lord: “Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his
surpassing greatness.” I will sing the praises of your name
At the end of time, all of
God’s people will join in eternal praise of God. “No longer will there be
anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his
servants will worship him” Revelation 22:3. With the curse of sin removed,
those who are with the Lord will forever praise the King of kings in
perfection. It has been said that our worship of God on earth is simply
preparation for the celebration of praise that will take place in eternity with
the Lord.
God Bless You and This
Ministry!
