“Lord, make me to know my
end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am.
Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, and my age is nothing before
you; certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.”
Psalm 39:4-5
In Psalm 90, David shows his
mindfulness of his brief time on earth. He asks God to help him number his
days, which ought to be the prayer of every Christian leader. Wise people work
to redeem the time they have through prayer.
Praying for others is
recommended as a source of healing along with confession. James 5:16
James tells us “the prayer
of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” Now, does this mean
that only the prayers of good people are heard? No, the word righteous in the
Bible refers to those who have faith and are covered by Jesus’ righteousness
Romans 5:1; 3:21-22; 4:2-3
Praying for others is
important because it fulfills a New Testament command. We are to pray for all
people 1 Timothy 2:1. We are to pray for government leaders 1 Timothy 2:2. We
are to pray for the unsaved 1 Timothy 2:3. We are to pray for fellow Christians
Ephesians 6:18. We are to pray for ministers of the gospel Ephesians 6:19-20.
We are to pray for the persecuted church Hebrews 13:3. Praying for others gets
our focus off of ourselves and onto the needs around us. As we “carry each
other’s burdens” Galatians 6:2.
Begin praying for others
today and help to build up the body of Christ. It is one way we show love for
other people. He has sent the Holy Spirit to intercede for us so that the
desires of our hearts are transported to the throne room of heaven.
Lord God
May
we be grateful for our lot, and compassionate toward all those who are
suffering every kind of distress at this difficult time? May we hold back
nothing, and hasten to be the ministers of prayer and mercy, like the disciples
of Him who went about doing well in times of need. In Jesus Name Amen
Gods Blessings and This Ministry!
