 Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear

Waiting Well in a Violent World
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
— John 16:33 (NIV)
Waiting can be hard. As I recover from back surgery, I know what it means to long for quick results. But healing—whether of the body or of a nation—takes time.
This week, America was shaken by the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah. On the eve of 9/11, the reminder of violence pierces our souls again. Leadership is tested in such moments. But leadership is not only for presidents and pastors—it is for every one of us who chooses to stand against evil and for the kingdom of God.
Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12). Crowds pressed to hear Him, desperate for truth.
That passion shows us something:
God’s kingdom isn’t for the passive. It is for those who refuse to give up, who wait with holy urgency, who press toward hope even when surrounded by fear.
Evil is real. It strikes in cities, nations, and neighborhoods. Yet we are not powerless.
We can resist violence by guarding our homes with prayer, by standing for truth with integrity, and by serving others with courage.
We can choose to turn away from voices that stir hate and instead tune into the voice of Christ, who calls us to love even in the storm.
Waiting well is not idle. It is active trust. Like Noah building, Ruth gleaning, Joseph enduring, and John writing from exile, we press forward in faith. Our courage must match the urgency of our times.
Friends, do not turn away. Fight evil with faith. Confront darkness with light. Wait patiently, bravely, and with hope—knowing God is working even now.
Prayer: Lord, give us courage to wait well and act faithfully in this violent world. Strengthen us with hope that cannot be shaken.
Blessing: May you be brave in the waiting, bold in the standing, and joyful in the hope of Christ.
God bless you and this ministry!
