Serendipitous Thoughts by Sugar Bear 4/5/2022

Give it to God, And Go to Sleep

King David was no stranger to adversity and persecution. Yet, even at the end of a long and troubling day, David was able to declare, “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety”. Psalm 4:8

Despite the ever-present threats against his life, David enjoyed such a close relationship with God that he was able to get a good night’s rest. He trusted the Lord to keep him safe. Instead of tossing and turning at night, he tossed his burdens onto the Lord’s shoulders and turned his troubles over to Him.

The yearning to be understood. Did you hear the weakness of the stigmatized person,” what I said”?

Nothing hurts more than the sense that the people we care about aren’t  really listening. We never outgrow the need to have our feelings known that’s why a sympathetic ear is such a powerful force in human relationships. And why the failure to be understood is so painful. With no apathy to face our demons may lead you to the conclusion that most of the conflicts in our lives is explained with sequence simple occurrences like, Fight-Flight-Fix cycle. which never become sovereign in change. People don’t really listen to each other. Talking without listening is like cutting an electrical cord in half and hoping some thing will lighten up.

That’s why listening to God is so important. Sometimes it seems he is not listening anymore .

At times, I’ve had a listeners Empathy? Hey look at me, thinking I need no training wheels because the  world has developed a culture of individualistic picture of a bright eyed baby on our own revealing within, declaring independence in webs of inclusion that form no need for reconciliation

There is something about reaching a breaking point that causes us to seek the Lord more sincerelythe capacity to feel another person’s feelings, thoughts, or attitudes vicariously. The apostle Peter counseled Christians to have “compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous”. 1 Peter 3:8

There are some things in our lives that need to be broken: pride, self-will, stubbornness, and sinful habits, for example. When we feel our brokenness, God compensates: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit” Isaiah 57:15.

We get a lot of practice on not listening. Are you bombarded with so many images of side tracking? Like TV, e-mail, cell phones, social media and from many of our obligations. Or get one’s ears “tickled” for a desire massages rather than messages—sermons that charm rather than challenge, entertain rather than edify, and please rather than preach. Have we become experts in tuning God out letting in the noise and tackling life at a hurried pace like unmatured flowers. I’m thankful for technology and the opportunities it provides to connect with people all over the world and share God’s truth. But our ears need a limit, be still, and listen to the promptings of the Spirit? Unplug from all the information around you and be still in the presence of the Lord. You may just be surprised at how Gods voice resonates.

The primary way that God speaks to us today is through His revealed, written Word. When we want to hear God’s voice, the Bible is where we should look. Most of the will of God for our lives is already fully revealed in its pages, and it is simply a matter of our obedience to it. All of Scripture is the will of God, but there are a few places in Scripture that specifically use the term will of God, which may be especially interesting to a person who wants to hear God’s voice:

1 Thessalonians 5:181: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Peter 2:12-15: “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.”

Surrender to God and allow Him to make you whole, to give your life meaning, purpose and joy. he truth is, God is not concerned with scratching our itches but in transforming us into the image of His Son Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Trust Him. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28.

Whatever a person allows to occupy his listening mind will sooner or later determine his speech and his actions. To hear God’s voice we must belong to God. Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27.Those who hear God’s voice are those who belong to Him—those who have been saved by His grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. These are the sheep who hear and recognize His voice, because they know Him as their Shepherd. If we are to recognize God’s voice, we must belong to Him. God will never lead us contrary to what He has taught in His Word  Titus 1:2.(

God Bless You and This Ministry!
